The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary – 15 August

Last week, the Church celebrated the Feast Day of the Assumption of Our Lady, when according to our faith, the Holy Mother, "having completed her course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory".  At the end of her life, Mary was taken immediately to heaven, body and soul. We say she was ‘assumed’ into heaven.  Tradition variously places Mary's death at Jerusalem or at Ephesus.

Almighty and everlasting God,
You have taken up body and soul
into the heavenly glory the Immaculate Virgin Mary,
Mother of Your Son: Grant, we beseech You,
that, ever intent upon heavenly things,
we may be worthy to be partakers of her glory.
Through Jesus Christ Your Son, our Lord,
who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit,
One God, forever and ever. Amen.

Year 6 Coffee Project (DR KOFFI) – The Year 6 students are involved in a project to sell coffee to the school community.  The students are learning about business and economics by being involved in designing labels, advertising and taking orders.  Any money made from selling the coffee will be donated to various charities that our school supports.  The coffee is eco-friendly and comes from locations that support fair trade.  Please see the Front Office for an order form.

A big thank you to all our families for their donations on Mary Mackillop Feast Day.  We raised $345 for the Mary MacKillop Foundation.
