Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Last Friday saw all students participate in Disco sessions which is the first time in history that 100% were able to attend their sessions. Many thanks to the Parent Network for organising DJ Ash to provide great dance music for the occasion and to those parents who assisted with setting up / packing up the venue.

This Friday will see the Parent Network host our annual Father’s Day gift stall whereby all students are able to purchase something ranging in price from 50c to $12.00. Thanks to all parents who assisted with wrapping the wonderful gifts.

Our 2020 Sports Day will be held over two days on Thursday September 17th and Friday September 18th on the school site. There is a modified program of events which will run for different year levels during the normal school day overseen by Mr Woods (our PE teacher). Students are able to wear their house colour t-shirts for both days in support of their team. Please note that due to COVID restrictions, parents and spectators are unable to attend this year. It is hoped that the Team Chants and Presentation of the Team Cup and the Spirit Shield can be filmed and sent out to parents after the event.

Teachers will shortly commence working on class placements for next year. Class placements take into account students’ learning styles and social/emotional needs, as well as which groups they work well with and whether or not they have experienced any learning difficulties in the past. Such discernment takes time and a great deal of critical reflection on the teacher’s behalf occurs as he or she considers all aspects of the student’s placement.

Ultimately, the responsibility of class placements rests with the school, but the choices made are based on shared wisdom between home and school. Parents are welcome to write in regards to their child’s particular learning needs or inform the school of additional information that you consider the school should have on record. However, please note that requests for or against individual teachers will not be taken into consideration. You have until Friday, September 25th to put in writing (Attention: Christine Comas) any information that you believe should be considered by teachers when placing your child in their new class for next year.

With the commencement of Spring this week, how good is it to finally have some sunny weather. Students are reminded to wear their school hat at break times due to the UV ratings. If your child has lost their hat, they will need to purchase one from the Uniform Shop.

I have included a special reflection on Fathers that depicts the different stages that one looks up to their father.  May every father, grandfather and special men in our students’ lives enjoy being spoilt on Sunday.

Enjoy the week
