Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Welcome to the final term of 2021 and a particular welcome to Akein (1VI) and his family. With only nine weeks to go until the end of the academic year, this term will definitely fly by especially with all the activities, excursions and special events organised by staff.

Our Professional Learning Day on Monday was dedicated to SEQTA – an educational ICT platform that all teaching staff need to fully utilize as of next year. Time was given to reviewing SEQTA expectations for programming and timetabling lessons and then the opportunity for working in year levels to plan learning for this term.

Congratulations to all students involved in the Catholic Schools Music Festival (CSMF)at the end of last term. Our School Choir performed on two nights at the request of the CSMF Director and did a sensational job on both nights. Thanks is extended to Jasmine Lim (our Performing Arts teacher) for the work undertaken to ensure that our students performed superbly on both nights.

Our Building Project is delayed to some extent due to a myriad of reasons, however, the anticipated handover date is Friday, November 12th.  It is hoped that from Monday, November 15th, the ground floor will be furbished and staff will transfer across to the various offices and staffroom.

Access to the school oval, Community Centre, Canteen, etc is currently via the Whysall Road side of the Hartzer building due to work on the linkway and ground works. For the next 5 weeks, there will be quite a bit of inconvenience to everyone, but we are aware that once the Building Project is completed, it will be well worth it.

During the holidays, the Junior Primary playground was removed to make way for the removal of the two transportables on the oval later this term. At a recent School Board meeting, approval was granted for the purchase of new playground equipment for both Junior and Senior students. During the Christmas break, the playground will be installed in the vacant school block on Whysall Road (school side of the staff carpark). Fences will be removed from our current school boundary and access will be made available for all students to the new playground area as of Term 1, 2022.

Term 4 marks the commencement of wearing Summer uniform for all students and is a timely reminder that the wearing of the correct summer uniform is required please. The Uniform Shop is open on Tuesday mornings (8:30 – 10:30am), Thursday afternoons (2:30 – 4:00pm) and Saturday mornings from 9:00 – 12:00pm, should you require any uniform items this term. Hats need to be worn during break times this term. If your child does not have a hat, please ensure one is purchased over the coming week.

Please note the following reminders:

  • using the school QR code and wearing of masks by parents and visitors is mandatory while on site until restrictions are lifted
  • our Independent Mornings this term are Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • students who walk to and from school may bring their mobile phone to school, otherwise students do not need a phone during school hours
  • all parents using our OSHC facility need to ensure that they make their bookings online via Fully Booked app.  Students cannot turn up in the afternoon without being booked in as our OSHC service may be at capacity and the school will incur a fine if it is over its quota of students booked in on the day.

I wish you all a wonderful week as we commence the final term of the 2021 academic year.
