Ecological Sustainability

At St Martin’s, we are aiming to reduce our landfill to become even more sustainable.  We ask that you make a mindful effort to try not to use any packaging in your child’s lunch boxes and if you do, we will ask that they take home any food wrappers that they bring to school.

Remember that reducing the amount of landfill, reusing containers, recycling and repairing are the keys to preserving God’s gift of creation and our wonder of Earth.

OLSH Pillar Focus – Term 4

This term, our OLSH Pillar focus is on Touching the Hearts of Others.  We reach out to those in need in our community through our commitment to St Vinnies by donating Christmas hampers and Christmas gifts for children.  We also prepare to farewell our Year 6 students at this time of the year, in an endeavour that our ‘heart people’ will touch the hearts of all those they meet through their life journey.

Greenacres Walkerville Parish News

Sacramental Program

We will begin the Greenacres Walkerville Parish 2021/2022 Sacramental Preparation Program for children wishing to celebrate the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Confirmation and Eucharist with an Information Session on Sunday, 17 October, after Sunday Mass at 10:30am at St Martin’s Church Hall.  We ask that you consider joining us for Mass beforehand at 9:30am at St Martin’s Church.

This session is for both parents and child/children.  It is an opportunity for you to hear about what our Parish offers and then decide whether you and your child/children would like to be a part of the Program.  If you are considering being part of our 2021/2022 Program attendance at this meeting is essential, although coming to this session does not commit you to participating in the Program.

If you have any questions, please contact Rebecca at the Parish Office on 8261 6200 or email at

October is Mental Health Awareness Month

We all have a role to play.  Mental Health Awareness Month is an opportunity to have conversations with your friends, family and community about mental health and wellbeing.

Here are some simple suggestions for supporting your community’s wellbeing:

· cook meals for your friends when they are experiencing a difficult time

· check in on a neighbour or family member who is not doing so well

· invite a friend for a walk, cup of coffee or something they enjoy doing

· find out more about what it is like to live with mental illness from people who share their experiences through articles, books, films, podcasts, or mindshare websites

· listen to your loved one’s insights into their own mental health challenges

· volunteer for a local service, or activities that improve your community’s wellbeing

· practice kindness and empathy source: .

This event is led by Paola Cheng, a qualified meditation teacher, spiritual director and social worker, who brings an inclusive and gentle approach to her sessions. (Heart of Life Centre for Spiritual and Pastoral Formation.)
